Societies of Plant Pathology in the world

International Society for Plant Pathology (ISPP)

The ISPP (established in 1968) is a member of the International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS), the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS), in liaison with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). It comprises, besides individual Members, 63 Regional and National Societies, including two Italian Societies, AIPP and SIPaV. ISPP publishes the journal Food Security: The Science, Sociology and Economics of Food Production and Access to Food.


International Association for the Plant Protection Sciences (IAPPS)

Established in 1998, it comprises, besides individual Members, 59 Regional and National Societies, including EFPP. IAPPS publishes the journal Crop Protection.



Arab Society for Plant Protection

Established in 1981, it comprises about 500 Members, including 12 National Societies. It publishes the journal Arab Journal of Plant Protection.


Asian Association of Societies for Plant Pathology (AASPP)

Established in 2000, it comprises 10 Societies, including the Israeli Phytopathological Society, Australasian Plant Pathology Society, Chinese Society for Plant Pathology, Indian Phytopathological Society, Korean Society of Plant Pathology, Malaysian Society of Plant Pathology, Pakistan Society of Plant Pathology, Singaporean Plant Protection Society, Japanese Phytopathological Society, Sri Lanka Association for Mycology and Plant Pathology, Thai Phytopathological Society.


Australasian Plant Pathology Society (APPS)

Established in 1969, it comprises between 400 and 550 Members; it is both a member and participated in the foundation of AASPP. APPS publishes the journals Australasian Plant Pathology and Australasian Plant Disease Notes.


Caribbean Society for Plant Protection

Established in 1980, it is a member of IAPPS.


European Foundation for Plant Pathology (EFPP)

It comprises 20 National Societies from different countries (Italy is represented by SIPaV). It publishes, in cooperation with the Royal Netherlands Society of Plant Pathology (Koninklijke Nederlandse Plantenziektekundige Vereniging), the journal European Journal of Plant Pathology.


Latin American Association for Phytopathology

Established in 1964, it is a member of IAPPS and comprises about 200 Members from 31 different Countries. ALF publishes the journal Fitopatologia.


Mediterranean Phytopathological Union (MPU)

Established in 1962, it counts about 271 Members from 41 different Countries, including, besides individual Members, 1 Regional Society (Arab Society for Plant Protection) and 5 National Societies (French Society for Phytopathology-Société Française de Phytopathologie; Greek Phytopathological Society; Italian Phytopathological Society-Società Italiana di Patologia Vegetale; Portuguese Phytopathological Society; Spanish Society for Phytopathology-Sociedad Espanola de Fitopatologìa). MPU publishes the journal Phytopathologia Mediterranea.
