Plant Pathology in the World

The Italian Phytopathological Society

How many plant pathologists are in the world?

How can I identify and contact them? To answer these questions, the International Society for Plant Pathology (ISPP), in collaboration with the American Phytopathological Society (APS), publishes on line the World Directory of Plant Pathologists on the basis of lists submitted by member Societies. Initially (1998), the Directory included over 12,000 addresses supplied by 7 contributors, American Phytopathological Society, Asia on IRRI (International Rice Research Institute)’s database, China, France, Japan, the Mediterranean, and Portugal. Presently, the Directory includes addresses submitted by 21 member Societies. SIPaV is not among them. It would be advisable to update the Directory yearly. However, in 2017 only the American Phytopathological Society (APS) and the Australasian Plant Pathology Society (APPS) have submitted their updated member lists.

For additional and more detailed information visit the page World Directory of Plant Pathologists in the website of ISPP (www.isppweb.org) or search Directory of Plant Pathologists through Google.

Currently, ISPP includes about 50,000 plant pathologists.
